Practical answers to common questions about staying at La Panache Guesthouse in Gros Islet, St. Lucia. Don’t see your question? Get in touch — we usually reply within a few hours.
How far is La Panache from Gros Islet Street Party and Rodney Bay Marina?
La Panache is located on a hill above Gros Islet, about a 10–15 minute walk to Gros Islet center where the Friday night Jump-Up happens and roughly the same to Rodney Bay Marina. Most guests walk; taxis are easy to find. The IGY Marina and food options like food trucks and restaurants are all within walking distance.
Can I check in late?
Yes — La Panache offers 24/7 self check-in with electronic door locks. We send your unique access code before arrival, so late or early flights are no problem. Just message us your arrival time and we’ll handle the rest.
Do you offer airport transfers from UVF (Hewanorra)?
We don’t run airport transfers ourselves, but we’re happy to arrange a reliable local driver for you. UVF is in the south of the island, roughly a 1.5-hour drive to Gros Islet.
Is there parking on site?
Yes — safe and free private parking is available on site. There’s space for guests with rental cars. The parking space has video surveillance.
What is the WiFi like? Can I work remotely?
WiFi is fast and reliable across the property — suitable for video calls, streaming, and remote work. Many guests run their businesses from the balcony or the pool deck. We have a dedicated digital nomad page with current speed test results. In the rare event of an outage there is also fast LTE cellular coverage. You will never run out of connectivity.
Are the apartments also good for long stays?
Yes — long stays are very welcome and we offer reduced weekly and monthly rates. Apartments have kitchens, AC, fast WiFi, and ocean view balconies. We particularly enjoy hosting digital nomads, kitesurfers in for the season, and travelers exploring St. Lucia in depth.
What does each apartment include?
All apartments include a private sea-view balcony, full kitchen with cookware and dishes, AC, fast WiFi, and bathroom with hot water. Bed linen and towels are provided.
Is there laundry on site?
We provide laundry service at an extra fee, especially helpful for long stays. Just ask us when you arrive.
Is smoking allowed?
Apartments are non-smoking. Smoking is fine outdoors on the balconies.
How close is the kitesurfing spot at Cas en Bas?
Cas en Bas is about a 10-minute drive from La Panache. It’s one of the Caribbean’s best flat-water kitesurfing spots — steady trade winds, protected lagoon inside the reef. Schools and gear rental are at the beach. Many returning guests come for kitesurfing. Read our full kitesurfing guide.
Is the pool shared?
We have an infinity pool with an ocean view that all guests can use. Lounge chairs, shade, and a quiet atmosphere during the day. The pool is great for cooling off after a beach day. Although it’s shared, we only have 4 apartments. It never gets crowded and you will be surprised at how many private pool hours you’ll have just for yourself.
Can you accommodate families with children?
Yes, families are welcome. The Double Apartment works well for couples with one child, and we have a crib if needed.
Is La Panache pet-friendly?
Please contact us before booking with a pet — we consider it case by case depending on the apartment, length of stay, and current bookings.
Do I need a rental car?
Not necessarily, but we recommend it. A car gives you the flexibility to come and go as you please, and makes the steep hill up to La Panache easier. La Panache is walkable to Rodney Bay Marina, Reduit Beach, restaurants, supermarkets, and the Friday night street party. There is also a mini bus stop about a 10-minute walk away. A rental is useful if you want to explore the rest of the island, but plenty of guests stay car-free and rely on local taxis or buses.
Is St. Lucia safe?
Gros Islet and Rodney Bay are among St. Lucia’s safest, most-visited areas. Standard travel sense applies — don’t leave valuables on the beach, lock your rental car. We’ve hosted hundreds of guests over the years; our location is walkable, gated, well-lit, and welcoming.
What’s the Friday night street party in Gros Islet?
The Friday “Jump-Up” is a Gros Islet institution — locals and visitors fill the streets with food stalls, drinks, music, and dancing. It’s loud, friendly, and runs late. La Panache is a short walk away, so guests can easily walk or take a quick cab ride.
How do I book and pay?
